FaZona Volt X — First Drive Impressions

We took the Volt X on a 520 km loop across Lagos and Asaba. Here is what surprised us, and what didn't.

We put the first pre-production FaZona Volt X electric SUV through its paces with a grueling 520 km endurance test. Routing from our Lagos innovation lab through Benin City and finishing at our head offices in Asaba, we tested thermal performance, battery management, suspension compliance, and real-world range under heavy load.

The Volt X performed remarkably well, completing the drive with a single intermediate charge in Benin. Utilizing our high-power DC fast-charging network, we replenished the 82 kWh LFP battery from 10% to 80% in exactly 32 minutes while enjoying a coffee. The dual-motor system delivers 340 hp, providing effortless passing power even on the challenging topography of the bypass routes.

What surprised us most was how well the chassis handled typical Nigerian road undulations. Built with a raised ground clearance of 210mm and heavy-duty dampers tailored specifically for regional road patterns, the Volt X glides over potholes where standard imported EVs struggle. We're on track for full commercial deliveries by Q4, offering a vehicle that is not only clean but truly built for the continent.
